Antix announced today that Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, will showcase the Antix TV Game Player (AGP) Service on its BCM7346 satellite set-top box (STB) SoC STB platform design at IBC 2011.
Antix and Broadcom have teamed to deliver an impressive multi-screen gaming TV experience with premium, console-quality 3D graphics, supported on Broadcom’s latest STB solutions. Antix leveraged Broadcom’s comprehensive platform APIs including OpenGL ES 2.0 support to quickly deploy Antix’s AGP service on Broadcom’s latest high performance STB chipsets. Antix’s unique distribution technology enables games to be shared from Broadcom-based STBs to mobile devices and PCs for an on-the-go gaming experience.
Francis Charig, Antix’ Chief Executive said, “Consumers have increasingly high expectations of games and our work with Broadcom clearly demonstrates the quality of service now available.”
The Antix Game Player attracts developers who can exploit its end-to-end C and C++ game platform incorporating the distribution and rights management capabilities necessary to bring high-quality gaming to millions of TVs, phones, tablets and other digital devices.
Visitors at IBC in Amsterdam from September 9-13 can see the Antix Game Player in action on a Broadcom platform in Hall 2, Meeting Room G105 (Invitation only).
About Antix Labs, Ltd. (Antix)
The Antix Game Player (“AGP”) is an on-device software client for native games services licensed to multiple tier one device makers. Third party casual, advanced casual and premium games are distributed in a device-independent format similar in concept to MP3 or PDF. This format lets consumers access and share games from any of their connected AGP-powered 'screens', which include mobile phones, TVs, STBs, PMPs, and PCs. In much the same way as they do already with music, photos and videos, consumers can distribute trial games virally across networks and off-line to their friends and family while still protecting the rights and revenues of operators and publishers. In addition to AGP itself, Antix (antixlabs.com) provides the corresponding tools, certification mechanism, optional white-label store, and optional game warehousing necessary to deploy a complete service offering. Antix Labs Ltd., headquartered in Reading, England was founded by Francis Charig, a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer.
