The Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program (MEEP) takes a two-track approach to serving the multifamily market, including apartment complexes. For existing communities, APS provides free energy efficiency products to retrofit every residential dwelling. These products will include energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs, shower heads with temperature shut-off valves and faucet aerators.
Free energy assessments also are offered to indentify additional energy saving opportunities in community common areas, such as the clubhouse, pool, laundry and vending areas. These assessments will identify energy saving opportunities and pinpoint available APS rebates that can assist with upfront energy efficiency improvement costs.
“Nearly 25 percent of APS customers live in multifamily housing,” said Chris Baggett, MEEP Manager for APS. “The multifamily market represents a large market for APS to promote energy efficiency and one that has proven difficult to reach with traditional program offerings. With the program, APS can help tenants and property managers bridge the energy efficiency gap so all our customers save money.”
The second track of this program provides incentives for new construction and major renovation multifamily projects. Developers can qualify for a per unit rebate up to $900 by building to APS energy efficiency standards.
For more information about the program and how to participate, visit aps.com/MEEP. APS is committed to providing customers with programs that help them conserve energy and save money. The APS Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program is one of several programs approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission to help APS meet Arizona’s aggressive goal of reducing energy usage by 22 percent by 2020.
APS, Arizona’s largest and longest-serving electricity utility, serves more than 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state’s 15 counties. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp.
