BrightCom, the performance leader in integrated telepresence and video conferencing solutions announces new enhancements to the Visual Collaboration System including tighter integration with corporate directories. This integration allows the processor-based, software driven, telepresence and video conferencing infrastructure to automatically update whenever a corporate directory is updated with new information.
The BrightCom Visual Collaboration Server administration panel allows conference administrators to customize its directory services whether it is for local or enterprise directories. Admins are able to work within a local directory, specifying permissions or rights to certain meeting functions as well as access to dial all or specific desktops or conference rooms. Admins can also add users, user's company and contact information and set up their place within the directory structure as well as place them in groups.
BrightCom's VCS admin panel can also activate an enterprise directory allowing businesses to specify either LDAP or Microsoft Active Directory. The same room permissions and other settings will apply according to the user's role or rights within the company.
Once the enterprise directory has been established, the BrightCom VCS server can be connected to a businesses' directory server. This allows the VCS server to automatically set all of the defaults including distinguished name, common name, object classes, company attributes and other information such as time zone settings. Whenever the directory server is updated with new users or other information, the VCS is automatically updated allowing for ease of use and faster setup for video conferences and telepresence sessions.
In March, BrightCom announced several new features of the Visual Collaboration System including support for documents with international languages, cross connection with MCU based systems and enhanced support with standards based SIP clients including Cisco/Tandberg, and Polycom.
