Following positive internal trials and recent customer success stories, 2D barcoding, vision and Auto ID experts Fairfield Group today announced the official addition of the Cognex Checker® vision sensor to their existing portfolio.
The Checker® is a comprehensive, extremely cost effective, easily configurable sensor that detects and inspects critical processes during production to ensure they are performed correctly. Typical quality control applications include checking of best before dates, the correct positioning and placement of products in their packaging (for example a case of wine has been accurately fulfilled with 12 bottles), fill levels on products (such as cans of paint or bottles of liquids), correct placement of labels, seals and bottle tops, and other pack placements in products.
Mark Lynch, Fairfield Group Managing Director said: “The Checker® is so powerful that it replaces the need to have multi-photocell / photoelectric sensors present in an application. It can be installed by the client themselves and requires no PLC programming – we are amazed at how easy it is to configure and invite companies to send us their problems so we can prove how quickly we can fix them using this product!. Checker® can inspect up to 6,000 different items per minute and understands what it is identifying – extremely intelligent and our clients love its ease of use and market leading accuracy.”
Lee Wragg, Fairfield’s Business Development Director said “We’re a hardware agnostic company and are constantly evaluating new technologies to bring to our customer base. The Checker® complements our existing portfolio perfectly, and we have been helping customers with vision solutions for a long time, in various sectors such as food and beverage and automotive. Recently we helped one of the world’s leading confectionary manufacturers to install a solution that detects the presence of a best before date. Their existing inkjet solution, combined with the irregular shape and size of the product meant that batches of product would occasionally be missed and sent out without a best before date. This resulted in a detrimental product recall that involved fines, not to mention impacts on customer satisfaction. The Checker® solution resolved the problem immediately, removing the offending products out of the production line automatically for re-coding”.
