GE Commercial Aviation Services [GECAS] has announced that the company will acquire 40 Airbus A320s aircraft.
The latest order covers A319s, typically seating 124 passengers, as well as the larger A320s with 150 passengers in a standard layout, with the flexibility to convert some to A321 Family models.
Few days ago, Air Mauritius has signed a firm purchase agreement with Airbus for three A340-300Es, with deliveries to begin in the last quarter of 2006. The contract covers also two further options on the same type. With the acquisition of this new generation aircraft, Air Mauritius will be the first all-Airbus operator in the South Indian Ocean region.
Airbus’ A320 Family is the most successful aircraft in the world, having been chosen by more than 190 customers and operators around the world, including both established and low-cost carriers. Firm orders for the Airbus A320 Family stand at more than 3,500 aircraft, almost 2,500 of which have been delivered.
