Barnie’s® Coffee & Tea Company is pleased to announce it’s partnership with the Café Femenino Foundation, a social program for women coffee growers in rural communities around the world.
The Café Femenino Foundation was founded by women in Peru in search of a better life. Women make up 30 percent of coffee growers responsible for 75 percent of the world’s coffee; yet, producers have no rights, live in poverty and face severe gender inequality.
“Café Femenino is a wonderful initiative and well-respected organization within the coffee industry,” said Jonathan Smiga, President and CEO of Barnie’s. “Furthermore, the quality of the coffee is outstanding. We’re excited to launch this program and hope to build it over time”.
The Café Femenino line includes two coffees, Chiapas Cesmach Mexican and Unicafec Peruvian, both of which have been locally roasted in Orlando and are certified Fair Trade Organic. Barnie’s has also produced a specialty tumbler in support of the program.
For each bag of coffee sold, Barnie’s will donate $2.00 to the Foundation, while a $5 donation will be made with the purchase of a tumbler. Also available is a gift set, which includes both coffees and a tumbler, where a $10 donation will be made.
Café Femenino products are available for sale online or at the following retail locations: Park Avenue, Baldwin Park, Waterford Lakes and Phillips Crossing and at the Altamonte Mall.
