BrightCom, performance leader in integrated telepresence and video conferencing solutions announced today that CEO Bob McCandless and Glowpoint Senior Vice President of Product and Strategy, Anil Balani will co-present at the Telepresence Conference at the 2011 NAB Show April 13, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The presentation entitled, Solving the Network Problem Today to Redefine Video of Tomorrow: The Future of Telepresence, will explore the issue of network capabilities for video conferencing and telepresence solutions and how the increasing adoption of video in the office, home and public spaces will force vendors to rethink their current strategies for video over public networks.
“The telepresence and video marketplace is poised for significant growth*, especially as it moves across consumer targeted verticals, such as Broadcasting,” said Balani. “The public is exposed in an increasing way, and I am very excited to be sharing the stage with BrightCom as we explore what’s next for connecting all of the various telepresence and video devices to make it seamless and cost effective.”
This session will compare current hardware based and software based codec technology and how these types of approaches will affect the reduction of bandwidth usage for future use of video in different environments. The representatives from BrightCom and Glowpoint will also share ideas regarding how the public’s perception of video will be changed, transforming from bridging cell phones, desktops, television and conference rooms to making it all encompassing anytime, anywhere.
“It is critical that telepresence and video conferencing vendors understand how consumers and businesses will want to approach their communication environment in the future and how network bandwidth will play a major role in facilitating this environment, stated Mr. McCandless. “I believe that we are moving toward a future where people will expect life-like video communication from their home to all of their daily spaces including work, family, friends and services and we need to ensure the infrastructure is there to support this new direction.”
“I am very much looking forward to discussing this topic with Glowpoint. Their success as one of the largest network carriers for cloud-based hosted video conferencing services gives them an extremely insightful perspective to this issue,” said Mr. McCandless.
