ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Chiew Chun Wee as its new head of policy, Asia Pacific. This is a new role created to support emerging demands as the accountancy services market in Asia Pacific grows.
Chun Wee is tasked in his role as head of policy to drive new research initiatives which will add value to the business community and the profession across Asia Pacific especially in key markets such as Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Malaysia. He will work with stakeholders and organisations in key markets to identify opportunities where ACCA can contribute to the agenda of the region in relation to accounting and business.
Prior to joining ACCA, Chun Wee was the senior technical manager of Deloitte & Touche LLP, Singapore where he focused on audit methodology, and regularly delivered internal and external trainings on auditing matters. He also has more than 11 years of experience in public accounting in Singapore and has worked in the audit of multinationals and local listed companies.
Commenting on the appointment, ACCA regional director of Asia Pacific, May Law says: “Chun Wee’s position is vital as ACCA strengthens its presence in the region. Chun Wee’s wealth of experience and knowledge together with his enthusiasm will bring a higher level of energy to the region as he works together with important stakeholders on specialised projects and research activities to advance ACCA’s research insights and, in the process, add value to the profession.”
Chiew Chun Wee comments: “I am delighted to be part of ACCA and look forward to enhancing ACCA’s strong reputation in the region. The accountancy profession is continuously developing and I am keen to work with important stakeholders and partner organisations to identify and address the evolving needs of the profession of the 21st century.”
