Adams-Johnson, LLC, through its service ScamBLOCK, is now offering a revolutionary new warranty service for timeshare owners which promises to protect them from fraud, scams, and misrepresentation in the timeshare industry---especially frustrated or elderly timeshare owners who are looking to rent or sell their unwanted timeshares.
“We created this warranty program because we are outraged and appalled at the overwhelming number of smooth talking criminals who are stealing millions of dollars from so many hard working families, especially elderly clients every single day.” Said Adams-Johnson, LLC CEO, James Adams-Johnson. “Someone had to stand up to these criminals and create a legitimate way to educate and protect consumers who have no way of protecting themselves.”
The Federal Trade Commission in multiple states has issued severe warnings to consumers to be wary of telemarketers and timeshare companies making promises to rent or sell timeshare. An example of one such scam is when a telemarketer calls a timeshare owner claiming they have a buyer lined up to buy their timeshare and present fake documents that appear to be real. If the owner takes the bait, they are then told that the “title company” just needs $2,000-$5,000 for title searches or miscellaneous other fees in order to secure the deal. Once the owner wires the money, the scam is complete and that owner becomes a victim. By the time the owner realizes they’ve been scammed, the bogus operation has either closed up shop, changed telephone numbers, relocated, or all of the above, and the owner has no way of getting that $2,000-$5,000 back.
ScamBLOCK has developed multiple methods to recover lost money, but the most effective feature is working as an administrative barrier between a timeshare owner and a third party company. “We use of extensive resources, industry knowledge, and professional contacts to quickly investigate and verify all claims made by any resale or rental company, including scrutinizing their history and/or interrogating them directly to uncover any inconsistencies or red flags. Nobody takes our clients money. Nobody…and we put it in writing” said Adams-Johnson.
Timeshare owners should also be extremely wary when dealing directly with their own large timeshare company. Common “red flag” practices include misrepresentation of maintenance fee increases, “good cop-bad cop” acts concerning “missed buying options,” and overcharging to “upgrade” your timeshare by tens of thousands of dollars.
“Timeshare is a $9Billion/year industry and most Executives who run large high profile timeshare companies are honorable people who never want to see any customer get taken advantage of; but the reality is, they sometimes just don’t know that their sales reps and managers are really stretching the truth to get sales. It’s been our experience that when ScamBLOCK is used to inform them, they usually do the right thing and refund the customer” said Adams-Johnson.
ScamBLOCK (buyscamblock.com) has been operating as an internet based pilot program since July 2010 and has already saved multiple clients in multiple states from losing over $79,000.00 due to timeshare scams and fraud. A branch office is planned in the spring of 2011 located in Atlantic County.
