The Flow online training modules offer a flexible, cost effective approach to online hospitality training that inspires learners to overcomes the traditional problems associated with online hospitality training in this industry. Employees can learn at a time, place and pace to suit them and the business.
The main objective behind this major upgrade of Flow Hospitality Training, only 12 months after launch, was to deliver the modules fully online, allowing learners to access them from any computer, with no software downloads.
Flow hospitality training also took this opportunity to introduce dynamic new graphics and interactions, which have greatly enhanced the look and feel of the online training modules, making them even easier to navigate around, and using engaging and fun ways to consolidate the key learning points.
4 of the hospitality training modules, The Bartender, The Waiter, Wine and Cocktails, have been significantly developed with a wealth of additional content, meticulously created by hospitality industry training experts.
The Food Safety module has been developed in line with Level 2 Food Safety training which is required for all food handlers. The food hygiene training and food safety module applies to both kitchen and front of house staff, allowing Flow Hospitality Training to offer a one stop solution to training needs for hospitality employers.
Flow Hospitality Training Licensing and Social Responsibility module has been adapted in line with the Licensing Act (2003) to create training specifically for bar and waiting staff in England and Wales, allowing Flow to expand further south of the border. This is a new and exciting chapter for Flow, who are already established as one of the leading online hospitality training providers in Scotland. Flow's Licensing and Social Responsibility training for staff in Scotland has been in hot demand, due predominantly to the ease with which it satisfies the legal requirement for all staff to receive 2 hours training prior to serving alcohol.
One of the biggest commercial benefits of Version 2 is the ability to customise the Flow hospitality training modules to a company’s requirements by adding logos and menus to create a totally bespoke training package, a feature that has been snapped up by a number of leading companies. The content managed set up also enables Flow to adapt and create training modules to accommodate customers specific training needs.
Karen Calvert, Flow Operations Director commented ‘We are delighted at the positive response, from both new and existing customers to the latest version of our online training packages. The original modules were designed eighteen months ago, and in this time software capabilities have moved forward dramatically. We were keen to deliver a product that is as innovative as possible, and are finding in particular that the interactive games are providing learners with a fun way to consolidate their wealth of learning.’
Background to Flow Hospitality Training
Flow training has been developed in association with Montpeliers [Edinburgh] Ltd, an independent company with successful operational experience and extensive knowledge of training within the UK licensed trade. The combination of 20 years experience delivering training and running award winning venues has created a product rich in learning and content and dynamic in style.
Developed specifically for the hospitality industry, the training comprises 10 online modules covering all fundamental areas of service, product knowledge, legislative training and soft skills. From coffee, wine and cocktail skills, to health & safety, customer service and sales maximization, the training enables any company to dramatically improve service standards and increase their bottom line.
Each module is designed to capture the imagination of the learner through inspirational use of graphics, bespoke video, interactive games and exercises and voiceover. Knowledge tests check the trainee’s progress throughout, and a final certified exam consolidate the learning, with downloadable PDF’s available as ongoing reference materials.
The modules can be used individually or as part of a complete training programme allowing the customer to tailor courses to suit the needs of the learner. It can compliment a company’s existing staff training or act as a fully comprehensive stand alone training programme for all hospitality staff, suitable for new starts with no experience as well as excellent refresher training for an existing team.
In addition to the actual training, Flow has also been designed with a complimentary management system that allows companies to plan training activity, track progress and view results. This system is automatically updated as trainees progress through their modules, allowing a manager to access training records at the touch of a button.
Training Director Ruth Wither states 'the key to a successful hospitality business is down to the service received by customers. Flow is aimed at improving standards and knowledge in all areas required to create a superb team of skilled staff'.
Earlier this year Flow also launched a pioneering e-learning solution to the Personal License Holder qualifications, SCPLH and NCPLH. PLH Online helps managers become qualified license holders quickly and conveniently and have been tailored for both on and off-sales operators.
