After 15 months in development, Career Cadence is bringing its first product to market, a workshop designed to help individuals identify and pursue the jobs they enjoy.
The company’s unique program uses a proprietary blend of course materials, trained professionals, and a specially designed assessment, the Distill™. “We found there were many resources available to help with resumes and cover letters. But, there was very little to help individuals understand how who they are connects to different career paths,” co-founder Alan Carniol said.
Carniol and his co-founder Paul Holzer started career Cadence in 2009. They began developing the business while pursuing their MBA’s at the Yale School of Management.
According to Holzer, “We both had friends who were still unsatisfied with their jobs several years after college graduation. But they didn’t know where to go next. We wanted to provide a solution.“ Career Cadence now serves current college students and recent graduates.
“During the session, the participants work,” Holzer said, emphasizing that the program centers on hands-on exercises, not lectures. Carniol added that participants walk out of the workshop having created a one-page document that describes their ideal job and a second one-page document that outlines their personal brand.
Each workshop is 5 hours long and has eight to 15 participants. Two leaders run the session, a working young professional and a specialist in professional development. “We felt participants needed both perspectives to get the most out of the program,” Carniol said.
Career Cadence (careercadence.com) is now offering workshops on and around college campuses in New York City, Boston and central Connecticut.
