Quantix, one of the UK’s leading IT Managed Services and Cloud Solutions providers, is partnering with Signify to offer all customers two-factor authentication (2FA) in its cloud environment. By delivering Signify’s hosted 2FA service as standard, Quantix is able to alleviate security concerns and provide a scalable cloud model that ensures data and applications are safer than they would be in the average customer’s own IT infrastructure.
Quantix had already been using the Signify service for managed services customers that need extra security for compliance reasons, or because they are handling highly sensitive data, for example. However, with 2FA fast becoming the defacto standard for secure remote access, this move makes Signify’s hosted service an integral part of the Quanitix service, enabling any customer to take advantage of the added security benefits of 2FA.
“Security fears really are the last stumbling block for many organisations keen to move to a cloud-based infrastructure,” said Andrew Slater, director of cloud services at Quantix “Best of breed security controls such as firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, access control and AV have always been a mandatory part of our highly secure cloud environment; but we see 2FA as a vital further step. By using the tried and trusted Signify service we are able to offer our customers secure, flexible and highly reliable 2FA that is easy to deploy and manage. Signify not only integrates with standard offerings such as Exchangecloud and Oracloud, but also offers burstable 2FA in an emergency situation which dovetails with our Cloud disaster recovery service.”
Control and management of the Signify service is made simple by its web-based interface that integrates with the Quanitix management portal. Customers are able to quickly set up users, apply their own security policy, add or remove users and provision new or replacement tokens.
“Our cloud-based 2FA services make it easy and cost-effective for managed service providers to offer flexible and secure authentication that can be deployed within days with minimal up front costs,” said Dave Abraham, CEO at Signify. “Authentication does seem to often be a security blind spot when it comes to accessing cloud based data and applications, with often only a weak password required. We are delighted that Quanitx has recognised this and is working with us to make the cloud more secure.”
The flexible Signify service is ideal for customers of any size, scaling from 5-5000+ users and available in a variety of contract lengths. Signify is the only cloud-based service that offers both RSA SecurID tokens along with software tokens and tokenless authentication using email and mobile devices, which customers can mix to meet the specific requirements of their users. For example, regular users can be given a token that produces a new one-time passcode (OTP) every 60 seconds while occasional users or those who require temporary access – including during emergency situations – can use the Passcode OnDemand service that delivers OTPs via SMS direct to their mobile phone or PDA.
