CMR Institute, the leading independent provider of non-branded education for the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries, has partnered with the University of Florida College of Pharmacy to offer graduate studies in pharmacy administration to CMR Institute students.
Through this collaboration, pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech professionals who are CMR Institute students can earn specialty certificates in Applied Pharmacoeconomics or Pharmaceutical Regulatory Compliance by enrolling in three University of Florida (UF) Online Master of Science in Pharmacy program courses as non-degree-seeking students.
“University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy has an outstanding reputation throughout the industry, and this alliance gives our students unique access to accredited graduate-level coursework that will complement the CMR Institute curriculum,” said Michelle O’Connor, Senior Vice President of Learning Strategy and Innovation at CMR Institute.
Specialty Certificate students will participate in live, online UF Pharmaceutical Outcomes & Policy courses along with graduate students in the Online Master of Science in Pharmacy program.
“Online access to this coursework is a real benefit of this alliance,” added O’Connor. “Our students are busy and seeking more flexible and convenient opportunities for professional development and advanced education.”
CMR Institute students choose from two certificate programs: Applied Pharmacoeconomics or Pharmaceutical Regulatory Compliance. Each program requires one foundations course, allowing participants to choose two additional courses from the program’s course catalogue to earn the CMR Institute-issued certificate.
David Brushwood, R.Ph., J.D., a UF professor of pharmaceutical outcomes and policy and director of the online master’s program, sees the partnership as an ideal way to strengthen the pharmaceutical industry workforce in key, expanding areas.
“Today’s job market is becoming increasingly competitive, yet there is an increasing demand for job candidates with regulatory and pharmacoeconomic expertise,” said Brushwood. “These certificate programs can give CMR Institute students the expertise required to fill that need.”
The certificate program can be completed in less than two semesters, and participants are then eligible to apply for admission into the UF Online MSPharm program. Upon acceptance into the program as a degree-seeking student, credits earned through coursework completed for the CMR Institute certificate can be converted to credit-bearing status, leaving only 21 credits remaining toward a UF College of Pharmacy graduate degree.
Registration for the fall 2010 semester begins in July. Prospective participants in the UF-CMRI partnership program should visit the website.
