Milwaukee, WI, United States, 2010/06/08 - Most bakeries & snack food plants are required to satisfy the AIB audit. Often the audit requires that a metal detector be included in the companies AIB plan. The food metal detector becomes an integral part of the manufacturing process - AdsDetection.com.

Ensuring the standard is achieved at all points of the process
The manufacturing process of bakeries and snack food plants takes on many different forms and processes. During the production cycle, it is critical that any tramp or unwanted metal, which unfortunately finds its way to the actual product, is detected and rejected immediately. The contaminate product left unchecked jeopardizes the finished product and in turn the companies image, brand and most of all public safety. During this manufacturing process, the company would use a food metal detector that is capable of finding the smallest ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel metal pieces. The state-of-the-art ProScan metal detector, manufactured by Advanced Detection Systems (adsdetection.com) is custom designed to meet the customers’ requirements for satisfying the AIB audit.
Ensuring that only metal is causing the reject
A typical problem found in metal detection is an unacceptable level of false rejection rates (FRR). Most bakeries and snack food plants have expressed concern over this problem and need to know for sure that each rejected product was in fact contaminated and in the end, completely removed from its manufacturing process.
To satisfy this requirement the ProScan metal detector technology is custom designed to phase out the product effect signal ensuring 100% detection. The microprocessor controlled electronics uses a unique software feature that is capable of learning the exact product signal, thereby eliminating any false rejects. This concern is especially important to bakeries and snack food plants because they often produce various size products and often with product inspection being completed prior to final packaging. Prior to final packaging, when the product is in its unfinished state, the product effect is at its greatest and detection sensitivity the most difficult. After learning the product effect, the signal is stored in memory, recalled during production, and used for analysing the metal detect signal. With virtually no product signals evident, the metal detector is capable of finding extremely small particles of ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel contaminates that are not found in older metal detectors.
With the ProScan metal detector one is 100% assured the contaminated product is removed before it leaves the plant. This assurance and peace of mind allows plant operators to focus on producing their product and unconcerned that a quality control step is being missed.
The net result is the AIB standards are met
With the ProScan metal detector in place the operator would periodically check its performance and document its results in a report, which is kept for internal and AIB audits.
When it comes to product safety, having a highly accurate metal detector system in place is not just to satisfy the AIB requirement but is paramount in the total product quality and safety management program. With a custom manufactured food metal detector, uniquely tailored to the needs of the customer, the AIB certification is easily met.
