The new Brighton data centre provides flexibility for those looking for real industry expertise when choosing a hosting provider. Publishers can choose the hardware they need guided by Semantico’s experience, or by their own in-house expertise.
The Semantico data centre hosts the Internet POP for Neos Networks in the South-East region of the UK, providing a tier-1 carrier grade data centre suitable for pre-live hosting, as well as test systems; disaster recovery, online backup, non-critical systems and live sites that need up to 99% up-time.
For critical systems, Semantico continues its relationship with The Bunker, a former NATO nuclear bunker in Kent. The Bunker offers 99.95% up-time, including site maintenance, with a level of security that far surpasses most hosting providers. Skilled technical staff are on site 24/7 and all site visits are accompanied.
Richard Padley, Managing Director, Semantico, said, ‘We’ve always offered hosting and support to publishers who use Semantico to develop web applications. We’ve noticed a requirement in the industry for a combination of hosting and support knowledge with real publishing expertise to overcome the seasonal variations in need, such as around exam time. Publishers who have an existing relationship with us have shown an interest in moving all their hosting to one provider, be it for large platforms or simple information sites. Publishers who have no software development relationship with Semantico are showing an interest in using us for their hosting to make use of our dedicated industry knowledge. We’ve worked hard to create real benefits that publishers need, such as our Zeus ZXTM Load Balancer Cluster. We’re delighted to launch the new data centre which represents a significant investment for Semantico.’
The High Availability architecture Semantico has designed for the The Bunker includes the Zeus ZXTM Load Balancer Cluster. This system balances the traffic going to the collection of servers that run a platform, enabling the site to run as efficiently as possible and offering end-users a fast, responsive reading experience. Providing this traffic management capability within shared infrastructure cuts the usually high implementation costs.
To ensure that any internet routing dispute or network outage will not affect the availability of publishing platforms, Semantico maintains multiple relationships with tier-1 network providers and automatically balances traffic between them to ensure high availability of bandwidth at all times.
