Adventure Eye Video Systems today announced a multi-year, exclusive agreement with Carnival Cruise Lines (NYSE/LSE: CCL) to provide its point-of-view scuba dive/snorkel video camera rental system to all of the line's "Fun Ships."
Adventure Eye Video Systems is the manufacturer and distributor of turnkey, point-of-sale, wearable video camera rental kiosks for tour operators and retail establishments. The company's innovative system facilitates the rental of point-of-view video cameras so consumers can record and relive their outdoor recreation adventures.
Under the exclusive agreement, Adventure Eye Video Systems will provide kiosks and cameras for Carnival Cruise Lines' guests to use during dive- and snorkeling-related shore excursions. Each ship will have three kiosks with 50 Liquid Image™ dive masks. The patented Liquid Image 310 Camera Mask is the first dive mask in the world that includes a built-in 5.0 megapixel, high-resolution digital D1 video (720x480, 30fps)/still camera (256x1920).
"The inclusion of the Adventure Eye Video Rental System on Carnival ships is the perfect way to enhance guests' scuba and snorkel experience," said James Griffith, owner and partner of Adventure Eye Video Systems. "Passengers will be able to rent dive masks with built-in, waterproof video cameras. When they get back on board, using our kiosk, Carnival staff will be able to quickly and easily make DVD's of passengers' adventures right on the spot."
The all-day rental fee for a Liquid Image dive mask, which can record more than an hour of high-resolution, DVD quality video on a 4 gigabyte Micro SD/SDHC memory card (or 22,400 still images), will be $29.95.
Initially, rental systems will be installed in eleven of Carnival Cruise Lines 22 ships sailing to the Eastern and Western Caribbean and the Bahamas, with other ship installations to be announced at a later date. Implementation began in mid-May and is scheduled to be completed by November.
Adventure Eye Video Systems designs its rental programs to provide the appropriate camera system for the appropriate use. In addition, the rental kiosk's hardware and software is scalable, so kiosks can be upgraded as camera technologies change.
"We see this as a long-term partnership with Adventure Eye Video Systems and are looking forward to providing our guests with this unique way of capturing their 'Fun Ship' vacation memories," said Joseph Acosta, Director of technical eEntertainment and Audio Video for Carnival Cruise Lines.
In addition, as a Liquid Image Xtreme Sport Cam equipment rental distributor, Adventure Eye Video Systems will also provide cameras to Carnival Cruise Lines for its onboard sales efforts.
