Dr. Harald Wack, President ZESTRON worldwide, met with EMS007 Editor Steve Gold to discuss the cleaning concerns engineers should address and what ZESTRON is doing to help the industry improve its cleaning processes.
“Customers need to know that as standoff heights are decreasing, components are being miniaturized and boards are becoming more densely populated, cleanliness, and therefore also reliability, are becoming more prevalent issues in the electronics manufacturing industry,” says Dr. Harald Wack. “Especially with the movement to lead-free, it is extremely important that the additional step of cleaning assemblies becomes an integral part of the production process.”
For more than 35 years, ZESTRON has been proactively meeting its customers’ environmental requirements as well as the industry’s legislative changes. “Our approach is two-fold: We strive to help our customers save money and resources by reducing their effluent losses and, at the same time, work diligently to improve their cleaning processes,” Dr. Wack further explains. “In fact, in addition to our vapor recovery devices and the ZESTRON® Bath Analyzer, we introduced the revolutionary pH-neutral defluxing agent VIGON® N 501 in the spring of 2009. This product delivers exceptional cleaning results in an environmentally sound manner.”
As a global company, ZESTRON has been able to provide product, process and service solutions to its customers worldwide. “In the beginning of 2010, ZESTRON launched a ‘Global Link Initiative.’ With four state-of-the art Application Technology Centers (US, Germany, China and Malaysia) and a cohesive team of more than 35 chemical engineers, we invite our customers to take full advantage of our resources and view ZESTRON as an extension of their production floor,” says Dr. Wack. “As part of this initiative, we are continuing the process of creating virtual tours of all of our facilities so that the customer may view our capabilities and choose the most appropriate application.”
