APPCON™ 2010 attendees will have an unprecedented opportunity to meet and learn—live and in-person—from some of the most highly respected authors and experts in the programming and mobile App development industry as John Wiley & Sons, publishers of the highly regarded Wrox® line of books, CDs and other educational materials for programmers, has signed on as a sponsor, co-chair and organizer of the Hello World pre-conference session for the APPCON™ 2010 mobile App development event in Las Vegas.
Designed to be part training, part hands-on coding exercise, the Hello World introductory session is set for Tuesday, August 24 as a prequel to the three-day APPCON™ 2010 mobile App development event in Las Vegas. Hello World provides an opportunity for APPCON™ attendees to get up to speed quickly on the platform of their choice before the general, technical sessions of the conference begin.
As part of APPCON’s partnership with Wrox®, the publisher will develop the content which will be delivered by the well-known imprint’s recognized authors and experts. Attendees will benefit from a hands-on version of Wrox’s renowned Programmer to Programmer™ approach to professional development. Related titles in the Wrox® series will be provided to participants as part of the Hello World registration.
“Developing for the mobile platform is the hottest thing in programming right now, and APPCON™ provides a tremendous opportunity for programmers to improve their skill set in this area and leverage the new opportunity to enhance their employer’s mobile presence or their own personal career path,” said Jim Minatel, associate publisher at Wiley-Wrox. “We’re very pleased to partner with APPCON™ to provide this hands-on introduction to mobile development in the Wrox® philosophy, with real mobile App programmers teaching from their own personal experience in building for the mobile platform.”
Hello World is designed to meet the needs of both experienced developers new to mobile App coding and developers experienced on one App platform looking to expand their repertoire into another platform. The session begins with a one-hour overview of the mobile App market and brief introductions to each of the major platforms. Breakout sessions follow, focusing on App development for specific platforms in detail, including installation of development tools on each participant’s laptop. At the end of the session, participants will walk away with a complete coded App.
“We are very excited to have such an unbelievable partner for this session and recognize the impressive value Wiley-Wrox brings to the conference,” said Bryan A. Scott, president of Taptopia, a provider of mobile technology solutions for event organizers, convention centers, and their related vendors based in Dallas that is co-producing the APPCON™ event along with ConvExx. “We are confident that attendees will walk away from this session with the best possible experience, armed with the knowledge and experience they’ve come to expect from the Wrox® line of materials.”
In addition to the Hello World event, APPCON™ features more than 40 other education sessions that cover a wide range of the most important mobile App technologies in a practical and technical fashion. The premier developer conference and expo runs August 24-26 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. The event is dedicated exclusively to mobile Apps across all major platforms and carriers and provides a rare opportunity for developers to dive deep into current technologies and platforms to meet the tactical mobile needs of businesses and brands.
Attending or exhibiting at APPCON™ is inexpensive, with all-inclusive packages covering booth space and conference registration fees for one set price. Rooms at the Paris Hotel start at just $69 a night, and rooms at the connecting Bally’s Resort start at just $49. Early-bird attendee and exhibitor savings end May 31st.
