Dr. David Saad - founder and CEO of Luristic, points out that for the longest time, Mac users have been blessed and spoiled with very intuitive and friendly Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) that Apple quite cleverly capitalized on. Recently, PC users have started to enjoy some of the cool animation and special effects offered by Windows 7. With the advent of platforms such as Adobe Flex and Microsoft Silverlight, along with the new announcement of HTML 5, why do web users have to continue to suffer with the current limitations of the browser that cause an awful user experience?
LureBar fills this gap by offering a web-based taskbar that users are already familiar with on their desktop. Upon hovering over an icon in the taskbar, a wavy Genie animation appears along with the corresponding thumbnail that offers users the capability of visually navigating through a website without ever clicking on anything. Thus, the process of selecting a webpage, a function, or a task becomes not just effective and productive but also pleasant.
LureBar is part of the integrated suite of open standard Rich Interactive Components (RIC) called Lure. It provides the most advanced features for a taskbar or a dock. In the next release, users will be able to dynamically zoom, size, drag, and drop icons in the taskbar in a desired order. Furthermore, LureBar will intelligently remember users’ preferences, which increases usability.
The current version of LureBar is based on Adobe Flex / Flash, and a Microsoft Silverlight version is planned but not yet developed. A Software Development Kit (SDK) will be offered to web developers to allow them to customize LureBar to match their own website. Specifically, web masters will be able to specify the animation speed, the rotation, the inclining angle of the taskbar, etc. Furthermore, users will be able to personalize LureBar using Settings.
