Aciont, Inc. announced today that the company will present findings on its Visulex® rapamycin topical delivery application in a poster session at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
The poster 5318/A246 is titled “Transscleral Passive Delivery of Rapamycin in Rabbit Using a Visulex® Topical Application Device,” which can be viewed on Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 8:30AM – 10:15AM in Hall B/C at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center. Aciont personnel will be in attendance at the ARVO meeting to respond to questions regarding Aciont’s work.
“This study demonstrates that the Visulex® device can deliver passively rapamycin, a hydrophobic drug, allowing the drug to remain in the eye tissues for at least 24 hours following treatment,” said Dr. Kongnara Papangkorn, Aciont’s Director of Research and lead author of the presentation. “A localized, non-invasive topical application device provides potentially significant patient compliance; cost savings; drug dose control and optimization; and safety advantages over oral pills and ocular injections in order to treat chronic sight threatening diseases,” Dr. Papangkorn added.
