John Ansbach will fill a three-year leadership position on the board of directors for NFWL beginning April 2010.
"NFWL is a fantastic organization dedicated to the support and empowerment of women legislators across the Country. I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead the organization in these difficult and challenging times," said Ansbach. "I’m looking forward to working with Helen [Helen Giddings, NFWL Chair Emeritus], Debbie [Rep. Debbie Riddle, NFWL Chair] and the rest of the fantastic leadership team to not only serve women legislators in all 50 states, but to help them help the citizens they so tirelessly represent."
Ansbach also pledged to work with Texas State Representative Patricia Harless, NFWL’s Texas State Director, in helping the organization to bring the group’s next annual meeting to Austin. “Our great state would welcome the opportunity to host women legislators from around the Country. Austin is the perfect venue for our group, and we look forward to making that happen in support of the members,” Ansbach said.
Last year, Ansbach worked with the NFWL in support of its efforts in the crucial areas of consumer financial literacy, education and debt relief. The Foundation passed a resolution at its last annual conference calling on states and the federal government to pass legislation to protect consumers from unethical debt relief operators while preserving all debt relief options for those consumers. The resolution passed in September 2009 and reflects the Foundation’s growing concern for its members’ constituents in these difficult economic times.
“With the economic downturn our nation has faced over the last year, our elected women have been working to identify effective and timely solutions that will reduce the financial burden that so many of their constituents face,” stated Robin Read, NFWL’s President & CEO. “NFWL’s Board is pleased to welcome John Ansbach as its newest member. His expertise in consumer debt relief will help NFWL to ensure elected women nationwide are able to build upon financial literacy efforts in their communities.”
