The long-established Ontario company provides tools as well as development and deployment platforms to telephony developers of voice applications such as IP-PBX, interactive voice response (IVR), call recording, fax server, and voice mail. These require proven building blocks including hardware boards and software development kits (SDKs) with both high and low-level application programming interfaces (APIs). Though new to CeBIT, PIKA Technologies has been successful in several European countries but is now looking to expand its operations by introducing its product portfolio to other distributors, system integrators, resellers, and service providers.
“We know that CeBIT is the No. 1 annual meeting point for ICT buyers, sellers, developers and users from around the globe. So PIKA’s mission at CeBIT is to take full advantage of that unequalled gathering,” says Terry Atwood, Vice President of sales, marketing and customer care. “We are equipped to do this because of our 22-year track record as a proven innovator that continues to this day.”
PIKA recently won the “Product of the Year” award from Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI) for its WARP Telephony Appliance. In January, it also copped the “Most Innovative Product” award at TMCnet’s IT Expo show in Miami. As well, the National Research Council of Canada has designated PIKA as a “Canadian Innovation Leader”. North American key customers include Sprint, MCi, and Syntellect. PIKA’s European major customers include British Telecom, Disy/Lindenbaum, Novxtel ,and Redwood Technologies.
PIKA’s product portfolio includes analog and digital telephony boards that integrate with PCs to provide public switched telephone network (PSTN) access, VoIP technology, fax, echo cancellation, tone detection and generation, and other media processing applications. PIKA also has a customizable linux-based telephony appliance (WARP) that knowledgeable embedded developers can use as an alternative to a PC-plus-boards platform. For less technical developers, PIKA has pre-integrated Asterisk* and FreePBX** onto a PBX development platform called WARP Enterprise. The small and cost effective form factor of the WARP appliance, coupled with the low cost of Asterisk and FreePBX makes this an ideal starting point for developers capitalizing on the expanding open-source telephony market. With analog, BRI and now GSM connectivity options, WARP Enterprise is gaining popularity worldwide.
CeBIT is the world's largest trade fair showcasing digital IT and telecommunications solutions for home and work environments. Attendees and exhibitors come from the telecom industry, the wholesale and retail sectors, skilled trades, banks, the services sector, government and scientific agencies among others.
Organized by Deutsche Messe AG, CeBIT has taken place in Hannover each spring since 1986. Over 4,300 exhibitors from around 69 countries and some 400,000 visitors from all over the world attended CeBIT last year.
PIKA Technologies will have product available for viewing at CeBIT in the Canadian Pavilion – Hall 13 / Stand D16.
