Senior executives, including CEOs, Directors and Country heads of several public and private Oil & Gas companies are attending a Leadership Conclave on The Human Dimension of Oil & Gas today in New Delhi. The conclave is hosted by Global Energy Talent and the Petrotech Society, and features a roundtable discussion on leveraging the talent landscape in India for Oil & Gas firms. The session is being moderated by industry veteran Ian Rushby.
As Oil & Gas production and consumption increases and projects become more complex, there is increasing demand globally for skilled professionals to manage these projects. India, with its large pool of technical professionals particularly in engineering and the geosciences, can take advantage of this demand. However, some issues remain- professionals need to be trained on emerging technologies and additional specialty training institutes will need to be commissioned. The industry also needs to do a better job of attracting a new cohort of workers- both from other industries as well fresh graduates, many of whom see it as an old & polluting industry. Can Oil & Gas create a model similar to the successful IT industry in India?
