Dada will be speaking on a panel regarding issues critical to “connected” home appliances and systems. SmartLabs’ award-winning home area network technology, INSTEON, has also been named as an event sponsor.
Dada founded SmartLabs in 1992 as a bootstrap startup. Shortly thereafter he launched Smarthome.com, becoming one of the world’s first ecommerce companies. During the late 1990’s, he acquired two product engineering firms, formed SmartLabs Design, and began designing and manufacturing proprietary remote control lighting and related products. Between 2000 and 2005, he led the development of INSTEON, a dual-mesh (RF plus Powerline) networking technology which is now the best selling home area networking technology. Currently in use in millions of homes today, INSTEON has also emerged as a source for energy management, demand response and load-shedding in Smart Grid trials with four of the top 10 utilities in the United States. Dada holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in engineering and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana.
“I’m excited to be participating at the Smart Energy Summit, both as an individual and as a part of our INSTEON Smart Grid initiative,” commented Dada. “The Smart Grid industry is developing rapidly and events such as this help bring like-minded individuals and companies closer together to work towards a common goal, which is optimizing our nation’s energy usage, moving us towards energy independence and minimizing our carbon footprint.”
