Straightpoint (UK) Ltd, the load monitoring and crane scale manufacturer, has seen its export sales double from 25 to 50 percent over the past six years. To further support its Western Hemisphere business, Straightpoint has set up an additional office, Straightpoint, Inc., in California.
The new U.S. office will offer distribution, calibration and testing of the entire range of Straightpoint industrial-weighing and load-monitoring products supplied and manufactured at the UK facility. The primary focus will be on the oil, gas, aerospace and shipping industries, plus other business sectors requiring heavy load-monitoring equipment. The first of a number of planned regional distribution companies is in Texas.

Although the recession has adversely affected UK companies that import goods, it has greatly benefited firms that export. Straightpoint (UK) Ltd has expanded its export channels and developed a worldwide network of dealers.
In addition to the favorable exchange rate for UK products, Ayling attributes the Straightpoint global success to the company’s principle of providing the best possible service for customers—whether supplying custom-built machinery to go to Germany, equipment for the Britney Spears concert lighting rig, or items to test crowd control barriers. The company will apply the same standards to service from the U.S. office.
