In 2009, grain harvest in Ukraine will total 48 mln tonnes, declared Julia Timoshenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, on November 25.
According to the head of the government, in the current year Ukraine will again produce the record grain harvest after 2008 period – 53.3 mln tonnes. The quality of grains will exceed the previous year level.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy increased own grain harvest forecast for 2009 from 47 mln tonnes to 48 mln tonnes in clean weight at the expense of maize volumes.

During January-October of 2009, agricultural enterprises of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Ukraine) sold 611.9 thsd tonnes of grains, an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, declared the Main department of statistics of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
According to the announcement, wheat sale volumes totaled 374.7 thsd tonnes, barley – 203.8 thsd tonnes, rye – 459 tonnes. Besides, agricultural enterprises sold 13.5 thsd tonnes of sunflower seed.
During January-October of 2009, the average purchasing price of grains, offered by the Crimean enterprises, dealing with gain storing and processing, to commodity producers, totaled 930.4 UAH/t, including wheat – 855.3 UAH/t (in January-October of 2008 – 980.2 UAH/t and 982.1 UAH/t respectively).
As a reminder, in January-September period of 2009, agricultural enterprises of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea sold 551.6 thsd tonnes of grains, an increase of 5.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.
