The Asset Management Framework (Construction Management Option) is made up of a number of different contractors from different specialist areas who work together to deliver network improvement and maintenance schemes on the all purpose trunk road and motorways in Highways Agency Area 9 and 10.
After an intensive bid process that involved a financial submission and complex quality submission, VolkerLaser beat off stiff competition to win the sought after contract. Due to start in January 2010, the contract will run for 4 years with a possible 2 year extension. VolkerLaser will be gearing up to ensure the CMF is as successful as the 2002-2009framework has been.
The contract has partnering at its basis, which encourages open working relationships and an opportunity to develop innovative practices that can be used across the company. The contract breaks the mould of traditional main sub contract relationship, with specialist contractors being employed directly by the Highways Agency.
VolkerLaser are active participants in the CM community, with current Framework Manager Leigh Chatwin saying, "I am looking forward to once again being part of the CM community, as it provides a platform to develop personnel, encourage practical and managerial innovation and embrace a true partnering ethos."
