Embraer signed a contract, today, with Oman Air for the sale of five EMBRAER 175 aircraft from the E-Jets family. Four of the jets will be operated by the airline and one will serve with the Royal Omani Police. The newly ratified deal also includes purchase rights for another five aircraft. The total value of the firm order, at list price, is US$ 177.5 million, and could double if all purchase rights are converted. The first delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2011.
“We are indeed pleased to have Oman Air as the newest customer of our E-Jets family, and the first in the Gulf area,” said Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer President & CEO. “It’s a privilege to have our planes chosen to play a significant part in the airline’s strategy to develop air services both within and to and from the Sultanate of Oman.”
Oman Air’s EMBRAER 175 will be configured with 72 seats in a full-service, dual-class layout, with 12 seats in business class and 60 in economy.
“The E-Jets are proven products in the Middle East, and the solid background Embraer has in the region was a key driver in our selection process,” said H.E. Ahmed Macki, Chairman of Oman Air. “We are convinced that the E-Jets will be the ideal platform for increasing frequencies and developing new routes, as well as catering to our expanding domestic market.”
Since entering service in 2004, over 600 E-Jets have been delivered, worldwide, and the family now has 55 customers in 38 countries. Embraer is the leader in fleet solutions up to 120 seats, with around 40 EMBRAER 170, EMBRAER 175, EMBRAER 190, and EMBRAER 195 jets delivered to customers and operators in the Middle East.
