Into its second year, the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Indonesia Telecoms Award honoured outstanding players in the country's telecoms sector. Nine prestigious awards were conferred at the banquet that was attended by over hundred guests from the country's finest telecom organizations. Dr. Ashwin Sasongko, Director General, Applied Telematics, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Indonesia, graced the banquet with his presence as the guest-of-honor.
The coveted titles were conferred to the recipient organizations in three categories - vendors, service providers and the best-of-the-best. Clinching their titles for the second time in a row were Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Telekomunikasi Selular and Indosat, while the new entrants on the honour-roll included Alcatel-Lucent Indonesia, Huawei Tech Investment, Bakrie Telecom and Indonesia Compnet Plus. These top-performers claimed their titles at the banquet for their outstanding performance for the year July 2008 - June 2009.
Congratulating this year's award recipients, Jeff Teh, Senior Industry Analyst, ICT, Frost & Sullivan said that, the outstanding results attained by each recipient is a testament to their well orchestrated strategies in withstanding the harsh market conditions faced by the entire industry during the period of consideration.
"Their tremendous fore-sight and timely initiatives to strengthen their core businesses and also in exploring other business areas of growth to supplement slowing revenue growth have placed them amongst the handful of those in today's honour-roll. Juggling a dipping economy yet not losing focus of the high growth market (Indonesia) in which they were operating in, the recipients have created a strong foot-hold for themselves in this market of tremendous potential," Teh said.
The Awards are a reflection of dedication, excellence and exemplary performance by the top-notch players in the Indonesian telecom sector who have not only out-performed the market competition but have also elevated the global standing of the country's telecom sector through their leading best practices.
The contenders were evaluated based on a variety of actual market performance indicators which include revenue growth, market share and growth in market share, leadership in product innovation, breadth of products and solutions, major customer acquisitions, subscriber base and growth in subscriber base, ARPU (average revenue per user) and growth in ARPU, data strategy, next generation service strategy, and business and market strategy. Benchmarked against the highest standards of measurement criteria, the recipients of these awards indeed represent the best-in-class.
