Applied Media Technologies Corporation (AMTC) President and CEO Clayton Burton was interviewed for an article focusing on music in hotel outdoor space in the October 2009 issue of Hotel & Motel Management Magazine (hotelworldnetwork.com/music/subtle-or-bold-bring-music-outdoors). In the article, Burton emphasized the importance and cost-effectiveness of using music in hotel outdoor space. “If you’re trying to create an environment that will entice guests to spend time, music needs to be part of the design,” stated Burton, “Bang for your buck, it probably has more impact than anything else a hotel operator can do, especially when you’re only talking about $20 to $30 per month.” Burton also reiterated the heightened importance of hotel operators differentiating their properties in the current challenging lodging environment. “In the current market, if you can set your property apart for such a trivial cost, why wouldn’t you do it?”
The article showcased AMTC customer The Sagamore, a historic luxury resort located on Lake George in upstate New York. Sagamore Director of Information Technology Mony Demarco commented that he had reluctantly embraced the idea of outdoor music “I was out there on the fence because a lot of folks at a resort like tranquility and quiet, but all of the feedback has been positive. ”AMTC designed the outdoor sound using its EQ-SPKROK weather-resistant “rock” speakers, which look like granite boulders and blended in unobtrusively with the hotel’s landscaping. AMTC, which is the foremost expert in multi-zone satellite radio installations and signal distribution, provided four separate zones of SIRIUS Music for Business, and also installed speakers throughout the interior public space of the property.
