The opening ceremony of the general assembly of the Yangpu High-Tech District Overseas Chinese Committee was held in Yangpu Science and Technology Investment Development Co., Ltd. Shi Naizhang, Deputy Chairman of the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Federation, Zhang Huizhu, minister of the United Front Department of the Party Central Committee and other leaders were present at the meeting. More than 50 people attended, including members of National Overseas Chinese Federation and coordinators of the United Front Department of Party Central Committee.
The assembly passed a set of working instructions and governing principles for the Yangpu High-Tech District Overseas Chinese Committee, and held elections for Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Chief Secretary, and Assistant Chief Secretary of the Yangpu High-Tech District Overseas Chinese Committee. Li Yin, General Manager of EMC, was elected as Chairman, Mao Weihong, General Manager of China Construction Design International, Chen Zhong, General Manager of SonicWALL, Franklin Yao, CEO of SmithStreetSolutions, Duan Wanying, General Manager of Shanghai Modern Advanced Ultra Precision Manufacturing Center, Gu Jianhua, General manager of Yangpu S&T Innovatio center as Vice-Chairman, Gu Jianhua as Chief secretary, Zhou Jielin, Song Yihan and Wen Xin as Assistant Chief Secretary. Zhen Zuohua, Office Director of the Yangpu District Government Science Park and Wang Huibo, General Manager of USST National Science Park, were invited to join the committee’s advisory board.
On behalf of Shanghai Overseas Chinese Federation, Shi Naizhang expressed sincere congratulations for the foundation of the Yangpu High-Tech District Overseas Chinese Committee and talked about the spirit of the Eighth Overseas Chinese Conference. Zhang Huizhu introduced Yangpu district and discussed its development. She stated that the construction of the Yangpu Knowledge Innovation District is beneficial to enterprises’ growth. As Yangpu district continuously improves its influence, enterprises will obtain more and better development opportunities. She also stressed that it is important to build the Yangpu High-Tech District Overseas Chinese Committee as the new home for overseas Chinese from all circles. Especially important is the need to strengthen collaboration with government departments through merging resources, acting as a bridge between overseas Chinese and government offices, helping them to navigate government policies, and solving their difficulties in work and life. She also expressed that the members of the District Overseas Chinese Committee are excellent examples of new productivity and advanced management methods. She shared her hope they can make good use of these advantages to grow with time and innovation, and make the district Overseas Chinese Committee a dynamic organization.
