Embraer joins its Houston-based customer, ExpressJet Airlines, exclusively operating over 240 ERJ 145 jet aircraft, in celebrating yet another landmark in this partnership: five million flight hours for its ERJ 145 fleet, which has been in operation since 1996.

“As the launch customer for the Embraer ERJ 145 fleet, we truly value our relationship with Embraer,” said Jay Perez, Staff Vice President of Material Services at ExpressJet Airlines. “We have become the world’s most reliable operator of Embraer equipment, and are proud of reaching five million flight hours with a maintenance completion factor of over 99.9%,” added Perez.

“On behalf of Embraer employees, worldwide, we congratulate ExpressJet for this outstanding achievement. The relationship and mutual success we share with this special customer make us deeply honored and proud,” said Bruce Peddle, Embraer Vice President, North America – Airline Market, during a brief ceremony held at ExpressJet’s hub, as he presented a commemorative plaque to the airline’s management and maintenance teams.

About ExpressJet Airlines
ExpressJet Holdings (NYSE: XJT) operates several divisions designed to leverage the management experience, efficiencies and economies of scale present in its subsidiaries, including ExpressJet Airlines, Inc. (expressjet.com), and ExpressJet Services, LLC. ExpressJet Airlines serves 128 scheduled destinations in North America and the Caribbean, with approximately 1,160 departures per day. Operations include a capacity purchase agreement with Continental, providing clients customized 41- and 50-seat charter options (ExpressJet.com/charter) and supplying third-party aviation and ground handling services.

About the ERJ 145 jet family
The ERJ family, in operation since 1996, represents a completely new market offering, with jets tailored to the specific needs of regional airlines. As a result of efficient product design and levels, plus the low operational and maintenance costs valued by operators.

Suited for high-frequency use, the ERJ 145 family aircraft can operate up to 3,000 hours per year. The unique family design offers airlines a 95 percent commonality of parts and systems, plus the same flight crew type rating. The ERJ 145 regional jet family is comprised of the 37-seat ERJ 135, the 44-seat ERJ 140, the 50-seat ERJ 145, and the ERJ 145 XR, which is an extended-range version of the original ERJ 145.

Embraer regional jets (ERJs) have been a very flexible tool for airlines to adapt their operations to different scenarios. When markets are in expansion, ERJs increase expand airline involvement by adding more spokes to carrier hubs, in addition to offering more route frequencies, supplementing mainline jet capacity, introducing secondary-to-secondary market services, and opening new, long and thin routes with small, low-risk capacity. Furthermore, in more critical market scenarios, the ERJ has been instrumental in helping mainline carriers defend their competitive market position by maintaining high route frequencies, preserving network integrity and overall market presence, replacing unprofitable mainline jet services and rightsizing aircraft capacity to demand.

Based on the flexible and reliable ERJ 145 platform, the Legacy 600 aircraft introduced Embraer to the executive jet market, and is also used for transporting government authorities. Currently, more than 170 Legacy 600s have been delivered to 26 countries, worldwide. The platform was
also the basis for developing the highly successful Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft family, in operation in the Brazilian, Mexican and Hellenic Air Forces.

More than 1,100 jets based on the ERJ 145 platform have been produced by Embraer, 878 of which to commercial carriers. They fly over 150,000 passengers every day for 31 operators, worldwide, carrying more people faster and farther than turboprops. They facilitate rightsizing the routes on which larger aircraft are underbooked, continually creating business.

Embraer (Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica S.A. - NYSE: ERJ; Bovespa: EMBR3) is the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial jets up to 120 seats, and one of Brazil’s leading exporters. Embraer’s headquarters are located in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, and it has offices, industrial operations and customer service facilities in Brazil, the United States, France, Portugal, China and Singapore. Founded in 1969, the Company designs, develops, manufactures and sells aircraft for the commercial aviation, executive aviation, and defense segments.
