Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP, the country’s first certified green law firm, is one of just 20 law firms in the United States – and one of only two California law firms – named to The National Law Journal’s (NLJ) inaugural Midsize Hot List.
The 2009 Midsize Hot List highlights law firms with 50 to 300 attorneys that have demonstrated “creative, innovative strategies to stay competitive.” The 20 firms selected after an extensive nomination review process exhibit novel approaches in recruiting, practice area development and operational management. Those listed, notes the publication, “…have shown the nimbleness and adaptability that come from lean operations and strong client ties.”
“The Hot List designation is further confirmation of what Wendel Rosen clients already know – a high quality, creative and agile midsize firm can provide the kind of focused business and legal guidance that will help them succeed in today’s challenging economy and help them realize their own business goals in the years to come,” said Daniel Rapaport, the firm’s managing partner. “Further, as a long-time green business leader, we share our clients’ values. What’s important to them is important to us.”
Recognized for its forward-thinking green business acumen, practices and influential attorney roster, Wendel Rosen became the first certified green law firm in the country in 2003 and shortly thereafter launched its Green Business Practice Group. Wendel Rosen’s green certification, writes NLJ, “has boosted the firm’s profile and given it credibility in counseling clients whose business involves green initiatives.”
Founded in 1978, NLJ has the largest paid circulation of any weekly publication serving the legal community. The NLJ is published by Incisive Media. The “Midsize Hot List” was featured in its June 29 edition.
