Tanzania Global Development Learning Centre recently partnered with Gatlin International, the world’s largest elearning provider to governments, corporations and universities, to unveil new online career training courses. Available at tgdlc.go.tz/, the certificate courses are open enrolment and cover business and professional, management and corporate, IT and software development, media and design, skilled trades and industrial, as well as hospitality and gaming.
TGDLC’s non-credit courses can help individuals at any stage of their career. Whether the student is interested in switching careers, obtaining advanced skills and certificates, or a first-time job seeker in need of specialised training, TGDLC and Gatlin International provide the necessary online learning resources.
Gatlin programmes blend various types of instruction in a unique format that provides a logical, comprehensive and effective education. The typical course combines online instructional content, traditional textbook material and instructor-facilitated lessons. Though the courses are self-paced, personal instructors are available to guide every student. This blended learning differentiates TGDLC and Gatlin International courses from ordinary online courses.
“The dramatic growth in Internet access around the world has secured elearning as a viable tool in education,” said Gillian Duncan, managing director of Gatlin International. “Now TGDLC students can advance their skills and obtain career certificates through the convenience of working from their personal computer and at their own pace.”
TGDLC is a member of the Association of African Distance Learning Centre (AADLC) which holds events that connect people across countries and regions for learning and dialogue on development issues. Offering a combination of distance learning tools such as interactive videoconferencing and the internet, and expert facilitation and learning techniques, AADLC Affiliates enable individuals, teams, and organizations working in development around the world to communicate, share knowledge, and learn from each others’ experiences in a timely and cost-effective manner.
AADLC clients are typically NGOs, government, private sector and development agencies who find that they work better together on subregional, regional or global development issues and challenges using the facilities and tools offered by AADLC Affiliates. Clients also benefit from the ability of Affiliates to help them choose and apply these tools effectively, and to tap development practitioners and experts in Africa. In this respect, participants taking courses from TGDLC have the advantage of interacting with a wide range of participants from across the region.
