Wyatt Technology Corporation, the world leader in instruments for absolute macromolecular characterization, continues its award-winning spree with two more accolades.
The company was voted one of the top five small companies for The Scientist magazine's 7th Annual Best Places to Work in Industry survey for 2009. This is the second consecutive year that Wyatt has won the award. In addition, the company has been honored as 2009 Company of the Year from the South Coast Business and Technology Awards.
The 7th Annual Best Places to Work in Industry 2009 survey by The Scientist magazine yielded responses from representatives of 238 life sciences companies worldwide. Respondents were asked to assess their working environment, including job satisfaction, benefits, training and integrity.
Overall, respondents rated room for intellectual and career development, a family-friendly environment and less hierarchy as highly desirable in an employer.
"This award is particularly meaningful because our company's strengths were recognized by our own staff members," said Dr. Philip J. Wyatt, the CEO and founder of Wyatt Technology. "Our primary focus is our customers and we cannot successfully fulfill our commitment to them unless our staff has a positive work environment that enables them to provide the best quality products and service."
Wyatt Technology was recognized by the survey participants for remaining profitable, adding staff and bringing out an all-new Dynamic Light scattering instrument, the DynaPro NanoStar. Wyatt employees are encouraged to submit, in confidence, weekly feedback to the company executives reviewing their activities of the prior week, their plans for the coming week and any concerns or problems they may be having.
"The Scientist is delighted to publish this unique and useful study of the life science employers. We can all learn from the winning companies - employees that take great satisfaction from their work are likely to be more motivated and better performers," stated The Scientist's editor and publisher Richard Gallagher.
Additionally, Wyatt Technology was recently recognized as the 2009 Company of the Year by the South Coast Business and Technology Awards, which are bestowed by the Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation. The award recognizes the achievements of local business leaders and benefits local students majoring in business or technology. The South Coast Business & Technology Awards are chosen by a steering committee made up of CEOs and business leaders who present annual awards recognizing excellence in service and outstanding executives in the fields of business and technology.
