ITWorx, one of the leading software professional services firm in the Middle East, successfully delivered a hosted employee portal to Doosan Infracore International (DII) using the latest Microsoft SharePoint Online (MSO) services, part of Microsoft Online Services product family and its Software-plus-Services (S+S) strategy. ITWorx effectively showcased its development capabilities with the implementation of this latest project.
DII is comprised of three business units and industry leaders in the fields of engineering, manufacturing, and marketing of compact equipment, attachments, air compressors, lighting systems, generators, and light compaction and concrete equipment. DII recognized the strategic benefits of connecting their global workforce through a unified employee portal and establishing a unique corporate identity.
Worldwide enterprises are combating recession with the power of new cost-effective technologies. Within a recession-prone global economy, DII needed to reduce costs associated with new IT investments and use the latest MSO services in hosting and maintaining their new employee portal.
In doing so, DII approached ITWorx for their expertise and track record in developing and delivering cutting-edge SharePoint-based applications to customers worldwide. ITWorx reputation in the market secured DII’s decision, entrusting the company with the challenge of completing such a strategic task.
ITWorx proceeded to create DII’s employee intranet portal, a tool that will be used to connect a network of employees distributed in various locations among DII’s leading business units: Bobcat, Doosan Infracore Portable Power, Tramac, Geith, Geith Precision, and Montabert.
Based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, DII’s employee portal reflects and identifies the new culture of the company and its business units. ITWorx, working closing with Microsoft for validation and approval, conducted thorough performance and security testing before hosting the portal using MSO.
“MSO is a collection of Web-based tools and technologies built on MOSS 2007 that help you store, share, and manage digital information within your organization,” said Houssam Amer, ITWorx VP – North America. “As in-house IT systems become increasingly cost-prohibitive in today’s economy, there is clear value in using Web-hosted software. Software-as-a-Service, or SaaS, is a new phase in IT that translates into less overall IT expenditure for enterprises. Working with Microsoft teams, we encountered first-hand success with the technical compliance of DII’s portal to MSO standards; and we are pleased to have diligently complied with DII’s business requirements.”
By assisting DII to leverage its IT investments, ITWorx helped reduce operational costs and decrease the need for on-site maintenance, while increasing business speed and efficiency. The new Intranet portal creates a common area where employees can access news, events, and knowledge base items. Employees can access relevant and authorized information on the portal.
“The proficiency and dedication demonstrated by the ITWorx team delivered us a customized SharePoint employee portal hosted using MSO. ITWorx helped us realize our goals using best-in-class software, while reducing capital costs and ensuring maximum performance of our portal,” said Richard Marani, Vice President, Information Technology, DII.
