The prestigious annual awards program spotlights top Triangle-area business leaders under the age of 40 who excel in their fields, show dynamic leadership and invest time and talent in their communities.
Linda J. Folger, CPCU, CIC, ARM, CRM, and a founding partner at TriSure, describes Holmes’ contributions to the firm as significant.
“Jim is a real ball of fire,” Folger said. “He has more energy than you can imagine, and he shares his time and energy freely with all of TriSure’s associates. His generosity and passion for excellence has allowed us to grow at an unparalleled rate since he joined us.”
That same passion for excellence extends to a non-profit program, Fostering Bright Futures, for which Holmes heads the advisory committee. Fostering Bright Futures is committed to helping former foster children in Wake County achieve lifelong independence through higher education.
The program helps students with housing costs, educational fees and other everyday expenses, and provides access to academic tutors, career counselors and life coaches.
Within its first year of operation, Fostering Bright Futures raised the donations that organizers expected would take two years, including a $150,000 multi-year grant from software giant SAS. Fostering Bright Futures now supports four former foster students pursuing studies at Wake Technical Community College.
In addition, Holmes serves on the Wake Tech Foundation board of directors, the school’s fundraising arm. He also serves on the WakeMed Foundation board of directors, a charitable resource for WakeMed Health & Hospitals.
A native of Smithfield and graduate of Smithfield-Selma High School, Holmes earned his bachelor’s of arts degree in business from N.C. State University and completed a concentration in accounting at Guilford College. He is a certified public accountant. He and his wife, Lauren, have two daughters, Kennedy and Jordan.
