Nobox Marketing Group announced today that it has been nominated for Best Online Campaign in the 13th Annual Webby Awards for its Download Day launch campaign on behalf of Mozilla’s Firefox 3. Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet.
Firefox’s Download Day event (from 18:16 UTC on June 17, 2008 to 18:16 UTC on June 18, 2008) established a brand new Guinness World Record for largest number of software downloads in a 24-hour period – a total of 8,002,530 downloads; the campaign also garnered over 31 million downloads in its first month. Nobox has previously enjoyed numerous collaborative efforts with Mozilla, including the design of Mozilla.com in support of the launch of Firefox 2; the redesign of the Mozilla Online Store as well as other strategic efforts such as Operation Firefox, Firefox Campus Edition, Personas for Firefox and their first ever online banner campaign, Thieves.
"Nominees like Nobox are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. "It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 10,000 entries we received this year."
Last week, the South Florida Interactive Marketing Association also selected Nobox as a 2009 SoFIE Award Finalist for Most Effective Online Brand Experience for Mozilla Firefox 3 as well as Most Effective Hospitality, Travel or Tourism Campaign for its work on behalf of Copa Airlines.
“We were already delighted with news of the SFIMA Awards last week, but the Webby Awards nomination really rocked our world; it is one of the most sought-after honors in the industry and a most significant recognition for the agency”, noted Nobox Founder & CEO Jayson Fittipaldi. “We want to enlist all of our friends and supporters to also help us win the Webby People’s Voice Award, by voting for us at pv.webbyawards.com”.
As a nominee, Nobox is also eligible to win a Webby People's Voice Award, which is voted online by the global Web community. From now until April 30th, Nobox fans can cast their votes in The Webby People's Voice Awards at pv.webbyawards.com. Winners will be announced on May 5th, 2009 and honored at a star-studded ceremony in New York City on June 8th hosted by Seth Meyers. Winners will be able to share one of the Webby's famous five-word speeches with the world. Past Webby Award winners - and their speeches - include Al Gore ("Please don't recount this vote."), Beastie Boys ("Can anyone fix my computer?"), and Stephen Colbert ("Me. Me. Me. Me. Me.").
