Since its launch in September 2008, DiGiCo’s SD8 has been added to the inventories of many top touring production companies (Eighth Day, Clair Global, Special Event Audio Services, Concert Systems, Dillon Productions, Heroic Productions), and become the console of choice on a range of productions worldwide: on theatrical shows (The Who’s rock opera “Tommy”), pop music tours (Art Garfunkel and Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray) and on festival productions (West Coast Jazz Party and Itzhak Perlman’s "In the Fiddler's House").
In addition, the SD8—derived from the same technology as the celebrated SD7—has received a series of “Best Product” awards including “Best Sound Product of the Year” at the 2008 LDI Show in Las Vegas, and “Most Innovative Product in the Live Industry” at SIEL, SATIS and Le RADIO in Paris, France. Most recently, the SD8 was named “Sound Product of the Year” by Live Design magazine, which will be announced in the magazine’s May issue and presented at a reception during Live Design’s Broadway Sound Master Classes at NYU on May 16, 2009.
“We are honoured to have our newest console singled out as “Sound Product of the Year” by Live Sound, one of the most respected magazines for the live sound industry,” said David “Webby” Webster, DiGiCo marketing director. “The SD8 was designed to offer a smaller Super FPGA than the SD7 while offering all the major features and versatility of the D Series in a smaller, more economical touring package. In just under a year since its launch, the SD8 has been embraced by touring engineers and production professionals around the globe in a variety of critical live sound applications—and the recognition from the media is icing on the cake.”
DiGiCo (UK) Limited (digico.org) brings together the design and development skills that have helped create some of the world’s most popular, successful and ground-breaking live sound consoles, with the digital engineering expertise and manufacturing resources of Soundtracs.
The company was formed in 2002 to develop the D5 Live digital mixing system, a revolutionary approach to both the live sound console and the way it interfaces with both ends of the audio chain.
