BigSteelBox.com - which recently opened its 16th location in Lethbridge, Alberta – is, this week, officially launching its new City to City service. The first-of-its-kind City to City service will enable homeowners to relocate to another city within B.C. or Alberta at a fraction of the cost of hiring a traditional moving firm.
Kelowna entrepreneur, Jason Siebenga, whose family owns and operates the company, explained why they have introduced the new service and how it will work:
“During the best of times, relocating to another city can be both stressful and expensive. With the current economic situation, whereby families are having to move – either to find work or downsize to a less expensive home – it can be even more challenging. At BigSteelBox.com, we felt there was a need in the market for a better option than either paying a small fortune to a traditional moving company, or coping with the stresses and risks of renting a self-drive truck. We believe that with the launch of City to City that option is now available.
“As with all our services, City to City focuses on maximizing convenience while keeping costs to the customer low. This is how it works. On an agreed date, we deliver a secure, steel storage unit to your front door. The unit is ground level for easy loading. When convenient, you gradually pack up all your belongings and, once everything is safely inside, we deliver the unit to your new home – anywhere in B.C. or Alberta. When you have finished unpacking, we come and pick up the empty unit. Unit rental is $135 for a whole month, so you can relax and take as much time as you need to pack or unpack,” Siebenga said.
“Our prices are very reasonable compared to hiring a moving company, and they are fixed, so there are no nasty surprises on the day of the move. For example, to have a loaded 20 foot by 8 foot unit collected from an Abbotsford address and delivered to your new home in Edmonton will cost $2,250. Yet another option is loaded moves between our storage facilities in the two cities for $1,550. For delayed moves, storage at our secure yard is free; you only pay $135 a month for the cost of renting the unit,” he added.
Despite the current economic climate, Siebenga is confident about the future for BigSteelBox.com: “We plan on taking City to City, along with our other moving and storage services, right across Canada. We have already been scouting for property in other Alberta cities as well as in Saskatchewan,” Siebenga said.
