“We consider that mobile roaming costs make up nearly 25% of total international travel expenditures for companies worldwide. Because MyCosmik reduces roaming cost by over 75%, the total travel expenditures for companies can be lowered by circa 20%.” says Devicom CEO Paul Derly.
MyCosmik (Beta) initially works on most Java and Symbian based mobile handsets and is available on mycosmik.com. MyCosmik (Beta) is currently limited to users from E.U countries, USA and Canada and can be used in any country worldwide to reduce roaming costs.
Users with a laptop can also download an additional service called MyCosmik WiFi, allowing them access to for the time being 40 000 Wifi hotspots in 60 countries using their MyCosmik account. Besides much lower prices on WiFi, an additional benefit of MyCosmik Wifi is that when the user is at one of MyCosmik’s 40 000 hotspots, he/she need not expose sensitive credit card information to the network owner to connect to the Wifi hotspot, but rather just log in using their MyCosmik WiFi account.
This marks Devicom’s long awaited entrance into the estimated $150 Billion global GSM roaming market (Devicom’s estimation). Devicom AB has also applied for an international patent with The U.S. Patent Office for the MyCosmik mobile software. MyCosmik works along side the user’s existing mobile service so users don’t have to change their mobile service provider or mobile phone number. The fact that users are reached on their normal mobile phone number wherever they travel, yet, save over 75% on both the incoming and outgoing calls, sets MyCosmik apart from any other roaming alternative product on the market. Another unique aspect is that MyCosmik utilizes only the traditional (GSM) voice networks and not mobile internet. Consequently, the voice quality according to our focus group is “perfect” and there are no additional data charges.
Devicom intends to market MyCosmik (mycosmik.com) directly to corporate customers in the E.U, USA and Canada using reseller partners such as cost cutting consultants, airlines, travel agencies, credit card companies and car rental companies.
“We will also make MyCosmik available on handset manufactures’ own websites, and carry out web campaigns, participate in bloggs, and use affiliate marketing. Devicom intends to release new versions of the software for other platform/devices on a regularly basis, so that MyCosmik works on an increasing number of handsets,” says Marketing Director MyCosmik, Jennings Segura.
