Softtek, a global provider of IT and business process solutions and the largest private IT service provider in Latin America, announced today that it received the Impact Award by the Americas’ SAP Users’ Group (ASUG) in Brazil. The annual award recognizes the efforts and achievements of ASUG members who have realized significant business results by running SAP solutions.
Softtek won the award for a project called “Manufatura Assistida” (Assisted Manufacture), which was implemented for Lupatech, South America, the leading manufacturer of industrial valves in Mercosur and producer of equipment for the oil and gas sector and parts for the automotive chain. The project used the NetWeaver platform to thoroughly integrate people, information and business processes and required a dramatic change in processes, developments, data cleaning as well as a rigorous testing and user training. The Assisted Manufacture project enabled Lupatech S.A. to monitor the entire operation through the use of mobile devices by providing access to detailed information on the progress of the production, consumption, waste and rework generated along the production line.
This is Softtek’s third recognition from ASUG; Softtek received the award for a project executed for TBG (“Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto,” Bolivia-Brazil) in 2005 and for AES Sul in 2007.
“To receive this award on three occasions—all of them for mobile computing solutions—is rewarding,” said Marcos Brum, director for SAP of Softtek Brazil. “It is a strong indication of our strong commitment and capabilities in developing leading-edge technology solutions.”
The Impact Award by ASUG aims to highlight the biggest success cases among SAP users, while also giving project teams the opportunity to exchange experiences. The decision of the award is carried out by a judging commission formed by specialists in the areas of technology and development of applications of companies not affiliated with Brazil’s ASUG.
