Seth Berman, founder of online sourcing directory Goodfactories.com, will make a presentation on sustainable furnishings at the March 18-21 China International Furniture Fair.
Sustainability is not only our future, but also is a growing market. Over 40% of consumers are likely to purchase green products, but consumer say they can’t find green furniture. Also, consumers are willing to pay up to 10% more for green products, but most green furniture is priced for upscale stores.
Topics will include: why the furniture industry should care about sustainability, an in depth review of green materials and processes, an overview of eco friendly product and supplier certifications, cost effective sustainability (the IKEA® model), how to find green suppliers, and information on how manufacturers and buyers can market green products. This will be followed by an informal group discussion.
Started as a concept in 2007, by home furnishings professionals, goodfactories was developed as a free alternative to the mega sites such as Alibaba and Global Sources.
