German specialty chemicals company LANXESS in Asia Pacific has launched new Innovation and Responsibility channels on its LANXESS goes Asia website.
The Innovation channel outlines LANXESS’s R&D global strategy as well as research network and developmental alliances in Asia. It also profiles LANXESS’s portfolio of innovative solutions for addressing the key global megatrends, namely resource scarcity, demographic change, increasing mobility, urbanization and climate change.
R&D focusing on optimizing existing products in existing markets accounted for about 70 percent of the company's R&D activities while 15 percent was spent either on the development of existing products for new markets or of new products for existing markets. This strategy will remain our R&D focus, but at the same time we will strengthen our activities with regard to developing new products for new markets as well.
The Responsibility channel showcases LANXESS’s social, environmental and corporate citizenship programs across Asia. Employees of LANXESS are involved in 50 projects around the world. Its corporate citizenship budget for 2008 was EUR 4.5 million. Besides competitive advantages, this significant investment underlies LANXESS’s firm belief that companies that act responsibly, reduce their risks, have a better brand image and are the more attractive employers in the competition for top talent.
Kaye Lim, LANXESS’s Vice President of Communications for Asia Pacific, said: “At LANXESS, we strive for holistic solutions which meet the needs of the economy, ecology and society. Innovation and responsibility are important pillars for achieving this goal. LANXESS’s vision is to actively participate in ensuring tomorrow’s world is safer and more liveable for everyone.”
