Measure true north azimuth with the GPS based compass (non-magnetic), elevation angle with the integrated tilt sensor, location with the on board GPS, and distance with the optional TruPulse laser rangefinder. The APS provides an accurate (<0.5º ) true north azimuth without the need for a declination value. With the addition of the TruPulse laser rangefinder, from Laser Technology Inc., it is possible to measure the location (latitude and logitude) and height (elevation) of a remote point without occupying the point. An output port is provided for downloading of data to a PC, PDA or data recorder. The user interface is an LCD display and membrane panel with application hotkeys for easy use and configuration. The APS can be mounted on a tripod with the 1/4-20 and 5/8-11 mounting points. An internal rechargeable battery allows for up to 7 hrs of continuous operation.
The APS can be used to align communication antennas (azimuth, elevation), determine drill rig orientation (azimuth, dip), for Mobile/Marine Mapping (latitude, longitude) because it is not affected by the surrounding metal structures like a magnetic compass is. Measure remote geographical positions (latitude, longitude, elevation/height) from one location for asset mapping, 3D positions (X,Y,Z) for a stockpile volume calculation, Missing Line between two remote points (azimuth, distance, vertical angle) or any application that requires a precise location, position or orientation measurement.
Custom mounting bracketry and software is also available.
