Rapco Electronics Ltd is to merge with Orolia’s Spectracom unit, offering a unique level of local service and support to customers throughout the UK and Ireland, and across Europe as a whole and North America.
As a part of its global strategy to expand the group’s presence and capabilities, Orolia (NYSE Alternext Paris – FR0010501015 – ALORO) has announced the closing of the transaction to acquire Rapco Electronics Ltd and the formation of Orolia Global Services Ltd. Orolia Global Services, which will be based in Basingstoke in Hampshire (UK), will serve as a strategic location for regional sales and services for all Orolia group companies, including Spectracom, SpectraTime and Pendulum Instruments.
Rapco Electronics has a strong heritage in developing time-and-frequency products and in the integration of systems for defence, satellite and commercial communications networks. In conjunction with the acquisition, the business of Rapco will be carried forward under Orolia’s Spectracom unit. Spectracom is a leading supplier of network-based synchronization solutions for public safety, broadcast, defence and commercial enterprise markets. The combination of the two entities in Western Europe under the Spectracom banner provides best-in-class product solutions, as well as value-added systems capabilities with local service and support.
Lisa Withers, Spectracom CEO, says, “Rapco’s reputation and experience in time-and-frequency products and systems is extremely complementary to those of Spectracom. Combined, we bring a wealth of applications and technical expertise to provide real value to our customers. We believe our customers will see direct benefits from our ability to pull from our worldwide technical resources, our responsiveness to their local office and an in-depth understanding of regional requirements.”
Margaret Reed, managing director of Spectracom UK and the newly formed Orolia Global Services, adds, “This is the culminating step of our partnership with the Orolia organization, announced last April. We are excited to bring the strength of Spectracom’s combined product lines to the region, support worldwide systems business for the company and provide stellar service for our customers.”
Jean-Yves Courtois, Orolia CEO and Chairman, concludes, “This is another solid step in building a strong sales, service and support capability for the time-and-frequency community. We are pleased to have the strengths of Rapco and Spectracom working together for the long-term success of our customers.”
Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
