OrangeSoda, Inc., a leading online search marketing company that specializes in localized search results, announced today that Chris Finken, its co-founder and executive vice president of research and development (EVP of R&D), has been named a “40 Under 40” honoree by Utah Business magazine. Finken will be featured in the January issue of Utah Business and at an awards ceremony to be held in early 2009.
Since OrangeSoda’s inception, Finken has been busy recruiting and watching as the American Fork, Utah-based company grow from a handful of employees to more than 200 in approximately two years. Having founded and successfully operated numerous online businesses, he was able to help OrangeSoda become a standout company in a saturated, $12 billion industry. In addition, Finken brings wide-ranging experience in building channel relationships, streamlining processes and task-flow management.
“I believe that two heads are better than one, so more than 200 is very exciting and helps us be successful,” Finken said. “I’m honored to be named as a young business leader in Utah, but realize that I simply can't do it all myself. Every industry has a lot of talkers and followers; to be a leader, you must be a doer, not a talker. At OrangeSoda, we have pooled a team of highly dedicated ‘doers’ that we give a high level of trust in order to get the job done.”
In his role as the EVP of R&D, Finken continues to lead OrangeSoda to the top of the online search industry by overseeing the creation of new tools and technologies that maintain the company’s role as a leader. His vision for the future of the marketplace comes from continuing to own and operate several ecommerce websites, giving him an understanding of the market's needs, and thereby keeping OrangeSoda moving in the right direction.
Finken is regularly invited by local colleges and universities to speak to groups of students studying online marketing and eCommerce. He also shares his knowledge with non-profit organizations, consulting with them free of charge and showing them how they can improve their exposure to their target market through online marketing.
As a 40 Under 40 honoree, Finken is ranked among Utah’s best and brightest, including young executives from such companies as Overstock.com, Zions Bank and Omniture.
