The Pune-based KSH Group has made a foray into the logistics infrastructure space and set up a modern Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Talegaon, Pune in India. KSH Distriparks’ Inland Container Depot (ICD) Talegaon, Pune is now fully functional with Indian Customs deployment headed by Dy. Commissioner of Customs, Mr. V.V. Sarma. Government of India has sanctioned all requisite statutory permissions / notifications for export-import clearances. Bonded movement of air cargo has been notified.
Kushal Hegde, Chairman of KSH Group, which is engaged in manufacturing, auto parts servicing and distribution verticals, said that Group has invested US $ 9 mn. in first phase of the new venture, KSH Distriparks.
Rohit Hegde, Director of KSH Distriparks informed that many service providers and their exporter / importer clients have already customs cleared, shipped Full Container Load (FCL) and Less-than-Container-Load (LCL) consignments successfully out of ICD Talegaon. Mr. Hegde said that KSH has created an enabled infrastructure with modern facilities to cater to foreign trade efficiency.
Nikhil Oswal, General Manager at ICD Talegaon stated that the new ICD on the ring road bypassing Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Octroi limits, is well connected to all upcoming and long-established industrial clusters around Pune and upcountry Maharashtra. It is just off the Mumbai - Pune-Bangalore NH4 ; directly connected thereon to Mumbai-Pune e-way, en-route gateway ports and airports at Nhava Sheva and Mumbai. New industries in this hotbed of engineering and auto manufacturing sector along with all traditional companies of this vibrant region would hugely benefit from this cost-process efficient ICD. Mr. Oswal pointed out that Ranjangaon-Sanaswadi-Chakan-Talegaon-Urse-Hinjewadi-Mann-Pirangut belt, anointed the fastest-growing industrial region in the country has attracted global investment of more than $ 3.5 billion in a short span of time.
Mr. R. J. Beley, Chief Commissioner of Customs & Excise, Pune region felt that transaction cost reduction was the only way ahead for foreign trade in India. Mr. R.Sekar, Commissioner of Customs, Pune said better utilization of hinterland facilities like Dryport / ICD / CFS would reduce the congestion at gateway ports, reduce turn around time of ships and industry would get local solutions for their international trade. This ICD is geo-strategically suited for logistics consolidation - deconsolidation of export / import cargo; bonded storage; customs clearance and container handling - storage also. Shipping Lines / Cargo Airlines / Consolidators and Forwarders would all gain from the strategic setup.
