Houston, TX, United States, 2008/09/24 - Home builder industry veteran Steve Lane has joined the construction practice group in the Houston office of Gardere Wynne Sewell.

Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP is strengthening its construction practice with the addition of noted home builder industry veteran Steve Lane as a Senior Attorney.
Mr. Lane joins the firm after more than 25 years working as an in-house attorney for national and regional home builders.

Mr. Lane’s practice focuses on all aspects of the home building industry, including regulatory compliance matters, strategic home building issues, advertising, purchase agreements and arbitration.
He is a founding member of the General Counsel Group of the High Production Home Builders Council and a member of the Governmental Affairs Sub-Council. In this role, he helped develop the Supplementary Procedures for Residential Construction, which were the first rules adopted by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) to address the specific needs of the home building industry. He also worked with AAA to develop the group’s Home Construction Arbitration Rules and Mediation Procedures, which were adopted in 2007.
Mr. Lane served on the Task Force that created the Texas Residential Construction Commission, in addition to serving on the National Association of Home Builders’ Legal Action Committee since 2005. His professional honors include being named In-House Counsel of the Year by the Texas Association of Builders.
Mr. Lane earned his law degree from the University of Memphis after earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
