Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, 2006/03/01 - The British Learning Association (BLA) and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) successfully opened a gateway of opportunities for UK learning providers at an event they organised last week on 'International opportunities for learning & development'.
The event, which was considerably oversubscribed with more than 160 registering their interest in attending, provided a platform for many types of providers in the learning and development sector to engage with those already active in international markets. The event also raised awareness of the support available to them to take up export opportunities and achieve success.
David Wolfson, Chair of the BLA said, "We at the British Learning Association have known for a long time that our members' expertise and products can form a vital part of our country's export market. British education and learning is held in the highest esteem throughout much of the world. That is why we are very pleased that UKTI recognises this contribution - the first of our collaborative activities."
He went on to say, "We look forward to a successful and profitable future for our members with UKTI's excellent, focussed, support. The event on 22nd February is, we hope, just the start of a very welcome collaboration between government and industry."
Richard Parry, Head of Unit, Education Skills & Leisure - UKTI, added "My colleagues and I at UK Trade & Investment were delighted to host such an exciting and productive event. It gave us a priceless opportunity to explain what UKTI do, and how we feel we can help British companies export their learning skills and equipment."
He further commented, "We want the BLA to be a key stakeholder in our efforts, and I am very pleased that they have accepted our invitation to have a seat on our sector Advisory Group."
The event was organised by the British Learning Association & supported by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) International Sector Group for Education & Skills.
